Our Mission
POPcodes provides a quick, safe and easy way for acquirers to better service merchants and for merchants to connect and engage with their customers. POPcodes aims to transform the way the payments industry utilizes smart terminals to unlock the wealth of data and interaction possibilities.

POPcodes Early Days
POPcodes was founded in 2014 in Calgary, Canada. Co-founders, Gregg Aamoth and Glenn Yuen, met through an Entrepreneurs Organization event and realized the untapped potential to utilize payment terminals for rich data-enabled value-added services.
This idea became a platform used by merchants, payment processors, and consumers. Instead of using the POS system as an in-store touchpoint, Gregg and Glenn shifted the focus to the payment terminal instead. They became a virtual merchant-facing solution that enables cross-selling, upselling, merchant retention and satisfaction, and a suite of customizable services and capabilities.
Initially focused on Proof @ POS™ (POPs) solution, the startup received accolades as finalists in numerous retail and payments competitions like SEAA Sandbox, Money 20/20 StartupPitch180, and Retail Council of Canada Reboot Challenge. The POPcodes app was deployed to thousands of merchant payment terminals, enabling unique promotions and loyalty point redemption.

Our solutions supplement payment providers’ payment apps and traditional marketing platforms. POPcodes’ PBS app modernizes and digitizes the sales and support lifecycle that acquirers must develop with their merchants in today’s digital age. We offer a white labelled app, which offers more customization. POPcodes PBS solutions are uniquely branded for master service providers down to individual ISOs or partners.
Most importantly, POPcodes solutions are rapidly deployable and highly secure. We do not integrate with payment applications, so our app has no effect on your gateway or PCI compliance. This also means you can easily and quickly change content and send messaging with the most current information, keeping your merchants informed and engaged.

In the past there was incredible interest for POPs™ from merchants and franchises, but a wide scale deployment to payment terminals needed the payment provider’s backing. We’ve developed partnerships throughout the payments landscape, with hardware manufacturers and fulfillment enterprises, in North America to facilitate deployment.
On the payments side, acquirers, ISOs, VARs, and similar players can benefit from PBS to improve merchant retention and profitability. Consumer goods brands, franchises, and individual merchants can benefit greatly from POPs to offer and track promotions, loyalty programs, in store pickup, and customer data collection. All with rich data to track and optimize campaigns, support, and communications.
